Once medical marijuana is legalized in your State, approved patients will be eligible to use cannabis for treatment if you suffer from one of the qualifying, underlying health conditions. Before you can enter dispensaries and purchase medical marijuana products, you will need a medical marijuana card. The easiest way to obtain a marijuana card will be to schedule your evaluation appointment with a medical marijuana qualified physician.

When medical marijuana is legalized, our advocacy teams will direct you through the entire application process, from helping you collect your medical records before your appointment to submitting your medical recommendations to the State Board after the appointment.

If you live with a qualifying condition, you will need to schedule an appointment with a certified medical marijuana doctor to obtain your medical marijuana card. At the appointment, you and the doctor will discuss your medical condition(s) and treatment history. You will need to supply information about your medical conditions at your visit that support your qualifying condition.

If your Medical Marijuana Doctor is able to confirm your qualifying condition and believes medical marijuana is an appropriate treatment option, you will receive a signed certification from the Marijuana Doctor recommending medical marijuana products as part of your ongoing treatment plan.

This signed recommendation will then be submitted to the state's Department of Health and Human Services (or designated State agency) along with an annual registration fee set by the State. You will be responsible for the state’s registration fee. Once you have paid your fee and the state has received your doctor’s certification, you will be entered into the patient registry following which you will receive your Medical Marijuana Card thereafter.

Why Get a Medical Marijuana Card?

Effective Treatment
If you currently suffer from one or more of the qualifying conditions, we strongly suggest that once medical marijuana is legalized, you initiate your treatment regimen under the supervision of a physician who has the training, compassion, and belief in the medicinal qualities inherent in cannabis. All of our doctors are not only licensed under the State, but also take additional continuing medical cannabis education courses to ensure that they have critical and recent information related to the therapeutic benefits of medical marijuana.

Dispensary Access
Medical marijuana products can only be purchased from a licensed dispensary in accordance with State regulations when they open, to ensure consistency, purity and potency, as well as legal protection.
With your medical marijuana card in hand, you'll be able to access all of your State regulated dispensaries and purchase cannabis safely and legally. These state-licensed marijuana dispensaries will carry many forms of medical marijuana in varying strengths and potency. You will be able to buy products such as tinctures, oils, creams, and possibly plant material for vaporizers, as well as edibles, depending on final legislative approvals.

Legal Protection
Your Marijuana Card will make it easy for you to demonstrate that you are registered with North Carolina's Medical Marijuana Control Program, and thereby allowed to possess, transport, and consume medical marijuana products prescribed to you.

Access To Other States
Although your individual state Marijuana Card will get you access to all dispensaries located within your state, there are other states with medical marijuana laws which offer reciprocity with their state program.
